Baltimore/D.C. 2012 Bid Would Generate Money And Jobs

According to a study released by the coalition preparing Baltimore and Washington’s joint bid for the 2012 Summer Olympics, the Games could generate more than $5.3 billion for the area.

Spending would include capital impovements totaling more than $200 million, operating expenditures of $1.8 million and outlays of $182 million for post-Olympic activities and other initiatives.

Nearly 70,000 temporary jobs would be created during the preparation period before the Games and during the Olympic year.

All U.S. cities bidding for the 2012 are expected to submit their bids by December 15.
