Athens Sponsorship Makes Olympic History

Athens 2004 has signed the biggest national sponsorship in Olympic history. It’s a $50 million agreement with the state-run telecom organization, Hellenic Telecommunications Organization (OTE).

The deal includes three OTE companies; the main OTE telecom providers, its cellular network subsidiary Cosmote and internet service provider Otenet.

Meanwhile Athens 2004 head Gianna Angelopoulos said her team will be tested every day until the Games were over. When people ask her how the preparations are going, Angelopoulos says “everything has to get better”.

Angelopoulos will present a progress report to IOC officials on November 22 and ATHOC will announce new deadlines for the completion of projects.

And she said since the last IOC meeting, steps had been made regarding security. The Greek government has signed an agreement with the United States on tackling organized crime and terrorism and security consultants from countries such as Britain, Russia and Spain were being brought in by the government.
