Problems keep plaguing Athens’ 2004 Summer Games. According to Greek media, Michael Cacoyiannis, president of a group organizing cultural events leading up to the 2004 Olympics, resigned because of a “bureaucratic ringer” that prevented him from properly staging the events.
Cultural events around Sydney were to start in January and culminate with the Olympics. It was the first time such an extensive cultural program had been planned for the Olympic Games.
