After receiving a letter from Denis Oswald, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) official in charge of coordinating Athens 2004 preparations asking for “action, decisions and time limits”, Greek Premier Costas Simitis told 2004 Olympic organizers to stop arguing with his government and to focus on preparations.

Government spokesman Tilemahos Hitiris said Simitis stressed during a meeting between organizers and the government, “the need for close cooperation”.

Meanwhile, Athens organizers said they have received 62,977 applications for Olympic volunteers. Their target is to have 100,000 volunteers.

And there are plans to set up Olympic information kiosks around Athens.
