Athens 2004 Ticket Campaign Announced

Athens 2004 organizers announced Monday that visitors to the Athens 2004 Summer Olympic Games will be able to book tickets for the Games between May 12 and June 12.

Residents of the 15-country ELU bloc as well as from Switzerland, Norway and Liechtenstein will be able to book tickets on the Athens 2004 official Web site (www.athens2004.com/tickets/en/). The Web site features all relevant information in English, French and Greek and payment through the Internet can be made by visa card, cash or in Alpha Bank branches, (starting May 2). Cash payments must be paid in advance.

A total of 5,300,000 tickets will be available for sale and of those at least 3,000,000 will be made available to the general public directly from Athens 2004.

Non EU-resident can book only through their respective countries’ national Olympic Committees after May 12. The National Olympic Committees have already purchased part of the Games remaining 2.3 million tickets.

In case there is an excessive demand for tickets there will be a lottery. If tickets are left unbooked by June 13 a second round of ticket orders will be launched in October 2003.

Athens 2004 has developed more than 200 different multi-ticket combinations in addition to the individual tickets. Multi-ticket combinations consist of a selection of individual tickets. There are five types of multi-ticket combinations including Olympic Experience, Weekend, Olympic Complex, Day and Olympic Sport Pass.

A ticket advertising campaign will be launched on April 20 throughout Greece and the rest of Europe, which will provide information, and educate and guide the public in the ticket ordering process.
