U.S.-led group Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC) and Greek officials signed an Olympic security contract Monday. Athens 2004 selected the company in March after it made a final offer of $280 million.
The contract calls for the construction and operation of a central security command and communications system for the 2004 Summer Olympic Games. Associated Press reports that under the deal Greek industries will produce $110 million worth of equipment.
Major companies in the SAIC consortium include Germany’s Siemens AG, General Dynamics of Falls Church, Va., New Jersey-based Honeywell International and the Israeli company Elbit Systems. There are also several Greek companies in the group.
