According to reports in the Greek media, people wishing to rent their private homes to visitors attending the Athens 2004 Summer Olympic Games are encountering a lot of red tape.
The property owners and real estate companies established to handle the transactions are asking for a more simplified rental agreement.
According to the rules the owners must produce and attest to the original building permit; an engineer must inspect the building and certify that there would be no structural damage should an earthquake occur; and the building must be inspected to make sure it was not constructed before l981.
