Athens 2004 Paralympics Going Well

At an International Paralympic Committee (IPC) press briefing Saturday the media was told that ticket sales for the event are going “very well”. Friday 40,000 tickets were sold bringing the total to 750,000 tickets.

As for TV ratings, reports say the BBC had more than two million viewers last Sunday and the German ARD-ZDF has had about one million viewers daily.

International TOP and national sponsors are highly satisfied with the organization and results of the Athens Paralympics. Top executives of companies with a leading role in their fields congratulated Athens 2004 for hosting a successful Games and developing a pioneering sponsorship program. The companies include Coca Cola, Atos Origin, McDonald’s, Kodak, Panasonic, Samsung, Swatch and Visa.

In a new media record more than 3,000 media representatives have validated their Paralympic Identity and Accreditation cards so far making a total of 641 journalists, 396 photographers, 126 non-rights holding broadcasters and 1841 rights holding broadcasters covering the Athens Paralympics.
