Petros Sinadinos, the general manager of Athens 2004, resigned Monday for “personal reasons”. Sinadinos had expressed frustration with government red tape that slowed progress in planning.
Sardinos is an architect who took the position in June replacing business executive Costas Bakouris who was forced out in a major management reshuffle overseen by Gianna Angelopoulos-Daskalaki.
He was part of a group put together to try to restore international confidence in Athens’ preparation for the 2004 Games.
Government spokesman Dimitris Reppas praised the “very positive” influence of Sinadinos during a “critical period”.
