ANOC Conference In Seoul To Promote PyeongChang 2014

Although Korean officials cannot publicize PyeongChang’s bid for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games because of ethics regulations instituted by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), organizers in Seoul hope that successfully hosting the Association of National Olympic Committee’s (ANOC) will help give Korea an overall positive image.

Kim Jung-kil, president of the Korean Olympic Committee (KOC), said the upcoming conference will offer a unique opportunity for Korea to move forward in sports diplomacy.

He said, “no Asian country except for Korea has hosted the ANOC meeting and it is significant that Korea served the ANOC twice. This will provide a chance for sports leaders from around the world to get a positive view of the country”.

The 15th ANOC General Assembly will be held in Seoul from March 31 to April 7. About 1,600 sports leaders are expected to attend the meeting, regarded as one of the biggest events in the international sports community.
