Announcement Of Halifax 2014 Funds To Come Soon

The Chronicle Herald reports that taxpayers may know this week how much money the municipal, provincial and federal governments will spend on Halifax’s bid for the 2014 Commonwealth Games, according to Mayor Peter Kelly.

The Mayor said he was told the federal government plans to announce its contribution perhaps late next week, although a date has not yet been set.

City council has approved an interim contribution of $1.5 million for the bid and the provincial government is also covering part of the expense. The 2014 Commonwealth Games has been set at $785 million.
