The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced Wednesday that all seven cities applying to host the 2014 Winter Olympic Games have returned their responses to the IOC Candidature Acceptance Procedure questionnaire by the February 1 deadline.
The seven bid cities are Sochi Russia, Salzburg Austria, Jaca Spain, Almaty Kazakhstan, PyeongChang South Korea, Sofia Bulgaria and Borjomi Georgia.
The completed questionnaire – the first phase of the 2014 host city election procedure – should provide the IOC with an overview of each Applicant City’s project.
The responses will be studied by an IOC-appointed working group and by the IOC Executive board. The executive board is to meet in June to decide which cities will be accepted as Candidate Cities.
During the Turin 2006 Winter Games, which opens February 10, all seven Applicant Cities will take part in an Observer Program.
The IOC said it will not release any documents at this stage of the procedure, but has informed the Applicant Cities that they can make their responses public and post them on their Web sites as of Thursday February 2.
