Africa’s 2008 Vote Will Go To City Sympathetic To African Athletes

Francis Nyangweso, the acting president of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) said that Africa will “vote as a block for the host city that will have the interests of the African athlete in mind”.

Nyangweso was speaking prior to the start of the ANOCA’s general assembly this week, where representatives of the five cities bidding for the 2008 Games are lobbying for the African vote.

Nyangweso said that the ANOCA general assembly would take into consideration facilities the aspiring host cities intended to put in place for use by disadvantaged athletes from developing countries.
