A Toronto 2012 Bid Will Be Minus Waterfront Venues

A report says that Toronto mayor Mel Lastman returned from Moscow Saturday with the news that if Toronto was to bid for the 2012 Games, it would have to do it without including the waterfront venues.

Politicians have said whether or not the city gets the 2008 Games, its extensive waterfront will be restored. And the new waterfront restoration plan will be minus those venues since the city did not get the 2008 Games.

But TO-Bid official James Villenueve said that he was told by IOC officials that if Toronto bids again for the Games, it will have to alter some of their plans.
