Thanks to Mayor Campbell the citizens of Vancouver have finally had their say on the 2010 Olympic bid, and they made it clear that they wanted the opportunity. Over 46% of registered voters (134,791) – a large number compared to municipal elections – cast their ballots in a city-wide plebiscite.
Shortly after 10 pm local time at Vancouver City Hall it was announced unofficially that 64% said they support hosting the 2010 Games while 36% were opposed. Official results will be available later in the week.
GamesBids.com BidIndex will be updated Sunday to reflect the plebiscite results. More news and reaction to come on this developing story.
