Cities bidding to host the 2014 Winter Olympic Games have made their presence known at the Turin Winter Games.
Four representatives of the regional government are in Turin promoting Jaca’s 2014 bid. During their visit they will meet representatives of the Olympic family and say they hope to discover what Jaca’s chances are in hosting the 2014 Winter Games.
Jaca has recently added English to its official Web site.
Winners of the design contest for the official Sochi 2014 logo are in Turin for a week to attend several competitions. The three winners were announced last October and were awarded tickets for the Turin Winter Games
Alexey Hraban, Communications Director for the Regional Administration and the Sochi 2014 bid committee said they were “delighted to offer the unique opportunity to three inhabitants of Sochi to visit the host city of the 2006 Olympic Games. Their talents have enabled us to symbolize the candidature of Sochi for the organization of the Olympic Winter Games in 2014”.
There’s also a delegation in Turin from the Georgian National Olympic Committee who are visiting Italy at the invitation of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to observe the Games. Borjomi is one of seven applicant cities and the IOC will announce which of the seven will be invited to continue as official candidate cities on June 23.
The other four cities are Almaty Kazakhstan, PyeongChang South Korea, Salzburg Austria, and Sofia Bulgaria.
