2014 Bid Cities Promote Bids Following IOC Inspections

Although the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Evaluation Commission has completed its inspection of the three cities bidding for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, the cities are still working at promoting their bids.

Salzburg 2014 reports that in a new survey conducted by the Gallup Institute Austria published March 18 which asked “Should the Olympic Winter Games 2014 take place in Salzburg”, 63 per cent of respondents voted “yes”, 29 percent said “no” and 8 per cent were undecided.

Also Austrian Olympic Figure Skating Champion and Salzburg 2014 Ambassador Trixi Schuba, along with Gernot Leitner, Executive Director of Salzburg 2014, are attending the World Figure Skating Championships in Tokyo this week as official representatives of Salzburg’s 2014 bid.

Meanwhile PyeongChang 2014 said Wednesday the bid committee appointed two newly crowned men’s World Speed Skating Champions (long-track), Lee Kang-suk and Lee Kyu-hyuk, as honorary ambassadors of PyeongChang’s bid. They were welcomed as ambassadors by Han Seung-Soo, Chairman of the PyeongChang 2014 Bid Committee.

PyeongChang 2014 has now appointed 55 international and Korean honorary ambassadors, including Kim Yun-A, who is competing at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships this week.
