Standard Sport reports that London 2012 bid officials want to strike a deal to field a Great Britain team at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games before the International Olympic Committee (IOC) votes on the 2012 host city next year.
According to Standard Sport discussions took place between officials from the Football Associations (FA) of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland in London this past weekend.
The English FA is believed to be working hard to find a solution that suits all the British Associations.
The prospect of football tournaments for men and women, with finals at the new Wembley Stadium, would be a major selling point of London’s 2012 bid. Great Britain has not fielded a team since 1960.
Barbara Cassani, leader of London’s 2012 bid, met FIFA delegates Friday.
