Edmonton Canada launched its international campaign in its bid for the 2022 Commonwealth Games at a press briefing in London, England, home of the Commonwealth Games Federation.
The launch officially starts the one-year countdown to the decision of the host city for the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Edmonton 2022 Chairman Reg Milley said, “we are excited by the prospect of hosting this great event and helping to take the Games to the next level. In collaboration with the City of Edmonton, the government of Alberta, and Commonwealth Games Canada, we have a strong and solid platform. Our ideas for the Commonwealth Games are based on two key areas – partnerships and promotion. We look forward to sharing more of our ideas over the coming year with the entire Commonwealth Games family”.
Edmonton has received the full support from the city and the provincial government. Edmonton’s Mayor Don Iveson said, “today is a very exciting day with the Edmonton 2022 team presenting our bid to the international media in London and our national campaign kicking off here in Edmonton. The city has supported the bid from the start and I am proud to be here today and to do all that I can to continue that support and guarantee an exceptional Games and experience in 2022”.
