Chicago 2016 Win Would Benefit Toronto 2015

A delegation from Toronto’s 2015 Pan American Games bid is in Copenhagen where the International Olympic Committee will be electing the host city for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.

Canadian IOC member Dick Pound has said selecting Chicago would benefit Toronto’s bid, reports the Hamilton Spectator. The Pan Ams in southern Ontario would serve as a good launching pad for athletes aimed at 2016 because the climate and communities are similar to Chicago and are only separated by one time zone.

The Canadian delegation is working quietly to firm up votes for its bid. Jagoda Pike, President of Toronto 2015 said, “this might be the last chance to talk to some people and to also see the latest and greatest in bid presentations”.

Peterson called it “a fabulous opportunity for us to tell our story”.

In Copenhagen with Toronto 2015 officials are Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty and Health Promote Minister Margarett Best.
