HRH Prince Feisal al Hussein made a surprise visit to Lausanne, Switzerland to show his support for softball’s inclusion in the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.
HRH Prince Feisal arrived in Lausanne Sunday on the eve of softball’s presentation to the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) Executive Board by a team led by International Softball Federation (ISF) President Don Porter.
HRH Prince Feisal said, “through my work as founder and chairman of Generations For Peace and President of the Jordan Olympic Committee, I have witnessed first hand the incredible impact and appeal softball has in troubled and conservative communities around the world as a non-aggressive, no contact sport. It is not viewed as a western elitist sport, particularly in Africa and the Middle East, where female sport is usually frowned upon.
“The ISF has been a loyal and inspiring partner of Generations For Peace since the very first Camp in 2007 and just last week ISF Executive Council Member Beatrice Allen and softball coaches were in Amman to show our delegates that softball is a great team sport that can play a role in changing the lives of children and helping our vision of using sport to promote peace”.
ISF President Don Porter said, “I am honoured that HRH Prince Feisal changed his plans to show his support to us. His passion for softball and the work we have done together with Generations For Peace is a testament to the impact softball is having across the world”.
