The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has set up a new bureau that is dedicated to preparations for the delivery of the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Called the Bureau of Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games Preparation, the bureau was officially established on January 1 to formulate a multi-faceted plan for the delivery of the 2020 Games and to provide further impetus to the government’s sports administration capabilities.
Tsunekazu Takeda, International Olympic Committee (IOC) member and President of the Japanese Olympic Committee and the Tokyo 2020 bid committee said, “I am delighted that the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has set up the new bureau so promptly to ensure that the preparation process proceeds smoothly and seamlessly. The organizing committee, set to be launched by the end of February, will forge a close working relationship with the new bureau and together we will exert our utmost efforts to organize and deliver a truly memorable Games experience, and leave a legacy that will benefit future generations for many years to come”.
