Sochi 2014 Releases Commemorative Stamps

Sochi 2014 has released a new range of stamps as part of the series “The XXII Olympic Winter Games of 2014. Tourism on Russia’s Black Sea Coast”.

The stamps depict views of the Black Sea coastline which are recognizable to Sochi residents and tourists, including Parus Rock, Sochi’s Dendrarium Park, the Orekhovsky Waterfall, and Sochi’s railway station.

Seven-hundred-thousand copies of each stamp have been printed and are available in denominations of 15, 20, 25 and 30 rubles.

A commemorative ceremony to mark the stamps’ cancellation took place in the Dendrarium Park in Sochi. Theodore Oben, Head of the UN Environment Program was the honourable guest of the event, emphasizing the cooperation between Sochi 2014 and the UNEP. The ceremony was also attended by representatives from the Russian post office and Russian Ministry of Natural Resources.

The series has now seen the release of four stamps press sheets (2 x 4) with stylized fields and with four stamps and four coupons, press sheets (3 x 4) with six stamps and six coupons, and six types of sheets with coupons in Russian, English, French, German, Spanish and Chinese.
