An educational program designed to train volunteers at the Sochi 2014 Paralympic Games was held on communicating, interacting and supporting people with a disability.
A number of International Paralympic Committee (IPC) experts were training the volunteers to make sure both the Paralympic athletes and visitors feel welcome while attending the Games. The program was attended by the people who will be training the Sochi 2014 volunteers at the 26 dedicated volunteer centres across Russia.
Fifty volunteer training instructors, including students and teachers from the Sochi 2014 Volunteer Centers, travelled to Sochi to participate in the program. They took part in a two-day course run by experts representing the IPC and the IPC Academy. The instructors were all experts in their fields.
The Sochi 2014 Paralympic Winter Games takes place March 7 to 16, 2014. A total of 1,350 Paralympic athletes and team members from more than 40 countries are taking part.
Volunteers will be active in more than 20 areas – from meeting delegations at the airport to helping organize the Closing Ceremony.
