Countdown To Sochi 2014 – Tickets

Tickets are now on sale for the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games, a year ahead of the event. Those living in the territory of the Russian Federation will be able to purchase their tickets exclusively on the official Sochi 2014 web site while residents of other countries can purchase their tickets from authorized ticket resellers appointed by their country’s National Olympic Committees (NOCs).

Tickets for sporting events sold online will be on a first-come, first-served basis. According to Sochi 2014, the ticketing program is unique as it is one of the largest in Olympic Winter Games history because of the record number of sports disciplines and new events.

Until May 31, 2013 tickets will only be sold by price category without assigned seats. The least expensive tickets will be $17 and the most expensive $1651. All tickets sold by price category, without being tied to exact seats, will be automatically assigned a specific seat at the sports venues.

At Games time February 7 to February 23, 2014, remaining tickets will become available from the Sochi 2014 website, the main ticket centres, and ticket box offices directly at the sports venues that will open when the Games begin.

Tickets sold for the most popular events such as ice hockey, figure skating, and the Opening Ceremony, are limited to four tickets per person, while the other events are limited to eight tickets. The total number of tickets in a single order must not exceed 50.

Meanwhile, Moscow has set up a countdown clock that will show the time left until the Games being.

The clock is six metres high and weighs around eight tons.

Similar countdown clocks have been set in Sochi and six other Russian cities.
