GamesBids.com today released an update to BidIndex for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. This update reflects the results of the Vancouver Plebiscite held yesterday showing 64% support.
All three candidates released updated public opinion numbers recently which remained mostly unchanged from results that were included in January’s bid books that were submitted to the IOC. As a result, Salzburg and Pyeongchang remained unchanged on BidIndex.
The Vancouver plebiscite showed only marginally better public support than what had been previously published by the bid committee. However, the risks associated with the plebiscite are now removed allowing Vancouver’s BidIndex to increase by 0.95 to 60.08.
BidIndex is a model developed by GamesBids.com that when applied to an Olympic Bid, produces a number that can be used to rate a bid relative to others in the past – and possibly gauge it’s ultimate success.
