GamesBids.com’s BidIndex for 2010 and U.S. 2012 were “halted” today pending the outcome of short-list announcements. This planned halt means that the index will not be updated or reflect any further news until it re-opens sometime after the announcements take place.
BidIndex is expected to re-open 2 to 3 days after the announcements. During that period, failed bids will be delisted and continuing bids will be re-indexed based on the new information available. The purpose of the halt is to indicate that new information may be available that has not yet been factored into the scores.
The USOC plans to announce its 2012 short-list on Tuesday at 4:00 PM local Chicago time. The IOC will announce the 2010 candidate list on Wednesday at 1:00 PM Swiss time.
BidIndex is a model that when applied to an Olympic Bid, produces a number that can be used to rate a bid relative to others – and possibly gauge it’s ultimate success.
