Tromsoe Preferred Over Lillehammer As Norway’s 2014 Winter Games Candidate

A committee deciding a potential application for Norway’s bid for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games said that the northern city of Tromsoe should be backed instead of former host Lillehammer.

Norway’s Sports Federation should make its decision next week. Although the federation board is not bound by the committee’s decision, Aftenposten reports that it is not likely that the board would disagree with the committee they appointed to investigate both cities.

The newspaper said that Tromsoe won the committee’s support over Lillehammer’s experience and successful 1994 Games, because of its more exotic qualities.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) will choose the host city for the 2014 Games in the summer of 2007.
