Germany’s national Olympic committee (NOK) will begin inspecting the five German cities vying to become the German candidate for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games starting in October.

The group will be in Hamburg on October 10 and 11, in Stuttgart October 14 and 15, Frankfurt October 16 and 17, Duesseldorf October 18 and 19 and Leipzig November 1 and 2.

On October 9 there will be an internal meeting of the commission in Hamburg.

A decision on who becomes the German bid city will be made on April 12, 2003 at an extraordinary NOK meeting in Munich.

Meanwhile, Stuttgart, one of the five German bid cities, has announced that an extension is planned for its tennis facilities that would offer 12,000 spectator places constructed on a previous fair parking lot. The court can be integrated into a cliff on the Weissenhof next to the tennis facilities.

Raimund Grudler, manager of Stuttgart’s 2012 bid said, “the tennis tournament becomes therewith in a beautiful environment” and is within a few minutes of the Olympic Village.
