B.C. Group Sponsors 2010 Bid Support Book

Now that the decision on who will host the 2008 Summer Games is just three weeks away, Vancouver’s 2010 bid is starting to rev up. Under an agreement with Toronto’s 2008 Olympic bid, Vancouver’s 2010 bid is to remain low key until July 13, when the IOC selects the 2008 host city.

But June 23-24 visitors at the Vancouver Island 24-Hour Relay for the Kids, will have an opportunity to visit the BC Lottery Corporation tent to sign the Bid Support Book. The British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) is the second founding supporter of the Vancouver – Whistler 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

Theresa Thom, manager of community and corporate events, said “we’re delighted to be at the Vancouver Island 24-Hour Relay for the Kids, providing a great venue for live entertainment and support for this extremely worthy event. We’re also pleased to give people an opportunity to come forward and show their support for the Vancouver-Whistler 2010 Olympic Bid”.

The Bid Support Book will travel to community festivals and events this summer, giving people all over British Columbia the opportunity to sign it in support of the 2010 Bid and indicate if they would potentially like to become volunteers.
